For owners of the brand-new Ford Mustang eager to get a little bit more performance out of their car, Ford has unveiled the first official performance packages available for the vehicle. Called the ‘King Cobra’ packages, the upgrades come in three variations. the Drag Pack, the Handling Pack and the Super Pack. The one-off show car Ford unveiled at the 2014 SEMA show was developed to showcase all three packages and produces 600+ horsepower.
The Drag Pack for the new Mustang includes heavy-duty half shafts, and a rear sub-frame kit with pre-installed high-performance bushings to improve traction and help get the power to the ground during hard acceleration.
The Handling Pack is fairly self-explanatory, and features a reduced ride-height suspension system and a stabilizer bar kit.
The Super Pack is the only package which increases power output. Thanks to a supercharger assembly, co-developed by Ford Racing and ROUSH Performance, as well as a six-rib belt drive system, new intake manifold, new electronic throttle body, revised air inlet system, upgraded fuel rail and high-flow fuel injectors, recalibrated ECU and an intercooler system, the Super Pack raises peak power of the Mustang GT to over 600 horsepower.
