Thrilling test drives will be a major attraction as the action-packed World Series by Renault returns to Silverstone next month, with both competitors and spectators given a unique chance to get behind the wheel of their dream car amid a carnival atmosphere.
Talented British racing driver Oliver Rowland will take his test drive in front of tens of thousands of fans when he pilots the Red Bull RB8 Formula One car in the adrenaline-fueled Infiniti Red Bull Racing F1 Show. The drive is his reward for his performance in this year’s Formula Renault 3.5 Series – a key feature of the pan-European WSR spectacular – in which he currently commands an impressive 26-point lead.
Spectators meanwhile can get in on the driving action too with test drives available across the Renault and Dacia ranges all weekend (5th – 6th September), including the new Captur and Kadjar crossovers, the all-electric Renault ZOE, light commercials such as the Trafic and Master vans and motorsport-inspired models like the Renaultsport Clio and Mégane.
They can also see for themselves the amazing manoeuvrability of the new Twingo hatchback by taking part in an exhilarating and entertaining ‘Twingo Gymkana’ round a specially designed course.
With the last World Series by Renault Silverstone attracting over 125,000 visitors in 2010, the weekend is a must for any motor enthusiast. Unlike other motorsport events, every attraction inside is included in the entry price and, even better, there’s still time to enjoy a discount on tickets when booked in advance.
Available until 14th August, ‘early bird’ tickets cost only £8 per adult (16 years+), and £4 per child (10-15 years old) for day passes and £12 per adult and £6 per child for weekend passes. Entry for children under 10 is free.
The regular day ticket prices are £10 per adult and £5 per child, while weekend passes cost £15 per adult and £8 per child. Entry for children under 10 is free.
As ever, top class, edge-of-the-seat motor racing will be at the very heart of the event with a packed programme of Formula Renault 3.5 Series, Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and the UK debut of the new 550hp Renaultsport R.S 01 race car in the Renaultsport Trophy series.
The Formula Renault 3.5 series – now celebrating its tenth anniversary – is seen as a breeding ground for exceptional Formula One talent; over the years Sebastian Vettel, Jaime Alguersuari, Daniel Ricciardo, Jean-Eric Vergne, Jules Bianchi, Carlos Sainz and Robert Kubica have all made the switch directly from Formula Renault 3.5 to F1.
But despite the obvious emphasis on motor racing action, the event offers a unique and engaging interactive experience.
The paddock area, for example, will be open to all throughout the weekend, giving visitors a VIP-style behind the scenes view and allowing spectators to get up close and personal with all of the competing vehicles. They can try their hand at the famous Pitstop Challenge and the F1 and Mégane Trophy simulators.
There will be plenty of excitement for younger visitors too with attractions including dodgems, a bouncy castle, a climbing wall, a freefall stunt bag, a high ropes adventure and a workshop where children can decorate their own Renault cap.
