Iconic 1979 Lamborghini Countach Sideview

For the first time, Lamborghini introduced 1971 Countach prototype to the world at the Geneva Motor Show and in three years the production model came out. The model was truly extravagant thanks to Marcello Gandini from Bertone being in the game. Having replaced the iconic Miura, the Countach lasted until 1990.

The manufacturer released over 2,000 units comprising this specific one you see on the pictures. As it came out in 1979, the car had a Blue Acapulco exterior over brown leather while sitting on gold Bravo wheels, then later it was repainted in black.

This Countach was brought to the U.S. in 1984 and ever since stayed here. In order for the model to stay up to date, there were certain repairs done to the drivetrain. The car's 3,929 cc V12 which made 375 hp back in the days was rebuilt. Also, some work was carried around the radiator fans, suspension, exhaust, clutch disk, fuel pumps and fuel lines.

According to the owner of this Countach, the car belonged to him for the past 22 years and it's still amazing to drive on fast mountain roads. Expect the 1979 Lamborghini Countach LP400 Series 1 hitting the auction block at RMSothebys Phonix on January 19-20, 2017, at the Arizona Concours d'Elegance. By: my.carid.com
