Audi R8 LMS GT3 Brings Thunder To Showroom Floor

Since showroom floors are mostly reserved for promoting model lineups and certain “individualized” versions of said models, to see something like the Audi R8 LMS in such an environment is somewhat of a treat. Let’s start off by talking about performance, since there’s nothing like a supercar turned race car – after all, that’s the point of going faster and faster right? The LMS comes with 585 PS (variable/adjustable), 500 Nm (368 lb-ft) of torque, and can reach 100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds.

While there are faster cars out there, not many can brag about winning a 24-hour race at the Nurburgring.

To top it all off, the R8 LMS GT3 is 25 kg (55 lbs) lighter than its predecessor and shares 50% of its components and 100% of its DNA with the production model.

Another interesting thing we’ve noticed while examining these images is that this exact car is in the exact shape it was when it won that race at the ‘Ring. They didn’t even wash the front fascia as it has the same scrapes and insect fatalities it had while on the track. Then again, why would they wash “the blood” off? These are the spoils of war, and just how offroaders should proudly wear the dirt they kick up, so should race cars.

By the way, if you pay close attention to the pics, you’ll notice the R8 e-tron next to the LMS, as well as a red V10 Plus in the background. Interestingly enough though, there’s also a barely noticeable R8 LMX back there (the previous-generation model), which kicked a lot of behinds back in its day, thanks to its 570 PS naturally aspirated V10 engine.
