Just 32 examples of the Type 57C Atalante were ever produced and this particular example is chassis number 57766 and one of just 12 units with a completely aluminium body.

The desirable and sought-after French car was originally purchased by successful businessman John W. Straus and spent 50 years of its life stored away.

In 2007, it underwent a comprehensive restoration and went on to place 2nd in class at the 2007 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. At Pebble Beach two years ago, a similar Type 57C Atalante was sold for $8.5 million and it seems likely that this unit could fetch in excess of $10 million when the hammer drops. By: GtSpirit
