Seeing as Furious 7 made $1.5billion, the franchise became quite a priority for Universal Pictures. That being said you’d expect there to be a queue of directors wanting to direct the film, however it is quite the opposite, mainly due to Vin Diesel being very difficult to work with according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“As a producer, he is said to have questioned even the small details on elaborate action sequences, often holding up the complex production.” Reports have also told The Hollywood Reporter that he repeatedly summoned filmmakers to late-night script sessions to make him comfortable with his character and dialogue.

Universal Pictures did ask Furious 7 director James Wan to direct the next film, however he insisted that he wanted to direct the sequel to his 2013 The Conjuring to which Universal Pictures accepted the decision. They then went to Justin Lin, who directed the third till sixth fast furious films but he chose to direct the next Star Trek film. Following this they went back to Wan, pleading with what sources have said a life-changing amount of money however he declined the offer saying rather than life-altering, the deal could be life ending due to Furious 7 being so demanding that it affected his health.

All spokespersons have denied the allegations including Vin Diesel literally being a pain the ass to work with. Furious 8 is currently scheduled to be on the big screens in April 2017. By Thesupercarkids
