While Hyundai’s N performance brand has yet to actually unveil a model, the company is confident it can compete with the very best offered by leading German performance carmakers.
It is claimed that the car will be based around the upcoming Genesis G70 Coupe, itself a special two-door variant of the impending G70 sedan design to slot below the marque’s current G80 and G90 models.
Discussing this new model in standard guise, the head of the N division Albert Biermann said, “This will be more on the sporty side already in the normal version, so you [can] expect [a] really nice-handling car…That platform is good for a lot of power.”
While Genesis has a 5.0-liter V8 at its disposal, it is unlikely the M4 rival would use such a powertrain. Instead, it seems more probable to utilize the company’s new 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6, tuned to deliver well over the 365 hp it offers on the G90. With some relatively simple modifications, it will be more than capable of matching the M4’s 425 hp.
It isn’t yet known when such a variant could launch, but don’t expect to see it unveiled for at least a couple of years. By: Carscoops
