New Aston Martin Factory Coming in 2017

Aston Martin has hinted that it will open up a new factory in the United Kingdom by late 2017 with the facility likely to handle production of the DBX crossover.

Currently, the British marque is considering two sites in the United Kingdom as well as one in America to construct its new factory. Additionally, three other locations are being assessed but aren’t frontrunners to be selected.

While recently speaking with Auto Express, Aston Martin chief executive Andy Palmer revealed that a decision will be made before Christmas on where the new factory will be built.

When the new plant is built and production of the DBX crossover gets underway, it is inevitable that Aston Martin will increase its workforce. In the meantime however, Palmer has confirmed that it will be cutting up to 300 jobs in its administration and technical departments as part of a restructuring of the firm.

“Our workforce has doubled since 2007 but we are building half the number of cars, it does not make sense. We need to make our processes more efficient with less people, we are fixing the business,” Palmer said. By: GtSpirit
