Porsche announced today that it will host the world premiere of the race-spec Cayman GT4 Clubsport model at the Los Angeles Motor Show on November 18.

Just like its road-legal sibling, the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport will use the same flat-six 385hp 3.8-litre engine, only this time the six-speed manual gearbox was ditched for the sake of the company’s double-clutch transmission with paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The new entry-level race car also features a mechanical locking differential and a lightweight front strut axle, taken straight from the 911 GT3 Cup.

Porsche says it has fitted the new Cayman GT4 Clubsport with steel brakes all around, measuring 380 millimeters in diameter. Weight has been kept down to just 1,300kg, including a welded-in safety cage, a racing bucket seat and a six-point harness.

The company has already opened the order books for its new racing baby for both Europe and US markets. The new Cayman GT4 Clubsport is planned to race in the Pirelli World Challenge, the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, the Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy USA, the Ultra 94 GT3 Cup Challenge Canada and for club races run by the Porsche Club of America as well as for other club events around the globe.
