The Porsche GT3 RS 4.0 is probably the ultimate iteration of the 997 911 series. It may not have the brute power of the 612hp GT2 RS or the sleek looks of the 911 Sports Classic, instead it has it’s own charm, one that appeals to grass-roots Porsche fans.
Despite all the jokes leveled at the 911, it is still one of the best handling cars available. The GT3 RS 4.0 comes closer to Porsche racers than any other model before. As a tribute to it, we thought we’d bring you a gallery of every possible colour variation we could find pictures of!
Only 600 will be made, meaning it is one of the rarer 911 models. Only two standard colours were offered from launch, Carrera White and Black. This will mean that most will be either of these two, quite frankly, boring colours. Yet many owners have stepped outside Porsche’s comfort zone and opted for the £4,208 paint to sample option. For a car costing £130,000, this is still a high price to pay for individuality. It has meant that we have a number of interesting paint schemes to discuss with you though!
Of course, first we must talk about the two most famous Porsche GT3 RS 4.0’s; Mark Webber’s and automotive journalist Chris Harris’. Both opted for variations of the standard colour schemes. Mark’s is a black version with the standard silver decals and standard silver wheels. Chris chose a white car with the same standard specification exterior.
Now that we have the standard colours out of the way, lets talk about some of our more favourite versions. Take for example the black car with green decals that resembles the Porsche 911 Turbo S 918 Edition Spyder. This must have taken some serious negotiation with the factory as it is one of only two that we know of that don’t have the silver decals. The other, of course is a more standard looking silver version with orange decals, resembling a common colour scheme for the original mark 1 997 GT3 RS.
We’ve gathered plenty that have simply had the decals removed completely. They look pretty awesome. We also have a couple of green optioned cars. A lighter colour and a darker colour. Our eyes prefer the lighter version as it stands apart from the other 600 cars. However, our clear favourite is the riviera blue can with the decal delete. Two cars feature in our gallery in this colour, a car with black accents and one with silver accents. By: GtSpirit
