While Shelby is best known for producing some exceptional tuned Ford Mustangs, the American marque did introduce a bespoke sports car in the late 1990s dubbed the Series 1.
It is believed that 29 examples were produced in 2005 and one has just hit the market courtesy of Global Auto Sports with a $110,000 price tag. This Shelby Series 1 is number 277 and therefore the second last ever produced.
Even though 2005 models weren’t sold with engines, very little information has been given about what is powering this example. All we know is that it is a naturally-aspirated V8 but its displacement and origins are unknown. However powerful it is, the buyer claims the car will sprint to 60 mph in a brisk 4.2 seconds.
Will the car sell for over $100,000? It’s hard to say but the fact that a brand new Corvette Z06 can be purchased for less than $80k certainly doesn’t do this Shelby any favours. By: Carscoops
