Originally, Shelby produced 249 examples of the Series 1 as 1999 models all of which utilised a naturally-aspirated 4.0-litre Oldsmobile V8 engine delivering 320 hp at 6500 rpm and 290 lb-ft of torque at 5000 rpm. Following the formation of Shelby Automobiles in 2004, a number of 2005 Shelby Series 1s were produced as component cars without engines or transmissions.

Even though 2005 models weren’t sold with engines, very little information has been given about what is powering this example. All we know is that it is a naturally-aspirated V8 but its displacement and origins are unknown. However powerful it is, the buyer claims the car will sprint to 60 mph in a brisk 4.2 seconds.

Will the car sell for over $100,000? It’s hard to say but the fact that a brand new Corvette Z06 can be purchased for less than $80k certainly doesn’t do this Shelby any favours. By: Carscoops
