An open-top version of the Bugatti Chiron is said to make its way onto the market in 2018, two years after the coupe will be officially unveiled.

The ultimate hypercar will reportedly get removable carbon fiber or glass roof panels, according to Autovisie’s sources. The model will add a “T-bar”, which will connect the windscreen to the rear section of the roof.

Visually speaking, the powerful machine will draw inspiration from the Vision Gran Turismo Concept, shown earlier this year, but toned down, and it will apparently get similar four-point LED headlights and an LED rear strip.

Bugatti is still keeping the Chiron, the name of which hasn’t been confirmed, in the shadows, but another report says that it will use an evolution of the 8.0-liter W16 quad-turbo engine, taken from the Veyron, with an increased output to approximately 1,500 PS (1,103 kW) and 1,500 Nm (1,107 lb-ft), sent to the all-wheel drive system through a 7-speed DSG.

Veyron’s successor is expected to need just 2.3sec to go from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) and will be able to reach a top speed of around 435 – 450 km/h (270 – 280mph), while its speedometer will go all the way up to 500 km/h (311 mph).

The Bugatti Chiron is believed to be produced in just 500 units and it should make its public debut next March, at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. By: Carscoops
