This Ducati Monster 1100 build by Ryan Danger is the 2011 Ducati Monster Challenge winner. The format of the 2011 Monster Challenge was rather simple. Owners of new-generation Ducati Monsters (696, 796 and 1100 models) submitted their custom builds through an on-line portal within ducaticommunity.com.
Members of the community voted and chose four finalists who were awarded an incredible Ducati MotoGP experience for two to the 2011 Indianapolis GP. All four finalist’s bikes were displayed on Ducati Island throughout the weekend and attendees voted for their favorites. After three days of voting, Ryan Danger and his custom Monster were awarded top prize on the Ducati Island main stage.
Taking a 2009 Ducati Monster 1100 and reworking most of the parts is a bold move. Sticking a 300mm rear tire on a Ducati Monster 1100 is a down right sacrilege for most Ducati fans. Most of the time we see this type of customizations on the Japanese bikes, and these type of mods render a bike useless. It’s definitely different.
I thought the 240 rear tire on the Diavel was ridiculous but when you see this 300 on this rather svelte Monster 1100 it’s another story. For this build Ryan Danger contracted Wayne Ransom to build the one-off tubular hand-made single-sided swing arm as well as the offset-drive with carrier bearing support and a hand-made stainless steel exhaust with re-buildable exhaust canisters.
The hand-made gauge pods and headlight bracket were also made by Wayne Ransom. A slew of accessories from CNC Racing, Rizoma, SpeedyMoto and Woodcraft adorn this Ducati Monster 1100. Overall it is an interesting build, a real conversation starter.
