Although lately there has been a lot of fuss surrounding the Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie, as some carmakers made a version of their cars inspired by the film, Kia hasn’t joined them, building instead a special version of the 2017 Sportage inspired by the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse motion picture.
To be more specific, the car’s design is based on one of the movie’s characters, the shape-shifting mutant known as Mystique. Even though the character has the special ability to mimic the appearance and voice of any person, the Sportage won’t become a Ferrari no matter what you do.
The X-Car, as Kia refers to it, features custom-designed body work with textured tone-on-tone matte and gloss blue paint, a set of sporty wheels plus some red and yellow body accents.
The X-Men-themed vehicle will be first revealed in January at the 2016 Australian Open tennis tournament, which Kia is a sponsor of. This is not the first time when the South Korean carmaker presents a special model at the well-known tennis tournament. In January 2015, Kia unveiled a Wolverine-inspired Sorento.
The first trailer of the much-awaited movie is already available, but the X-Men: Apocalypse motion picture will hit theaters in May 2016.
Kia improved the 2017 Sportage by designing sophisticated looks, refining cabin materials and fitting modern mechanicals. The new model has a 105.1-inch wheelbase, making it much more accommodating than its predecessor.
The exterior also features a “tiger-nose” front grille, newly designed headlights and the trademark “ice-cube shaped” fog lights; all of these elements transform this car into a pretty handsome compact crossover.
The interior welcomes its guests with soft-touch materials and technology, including a touchscreen media system with incorporated navigation.
The 2017 Kia Sportage offers two powertrains, a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter engine developing 181 horsepower and a sportier turbocharged 2.0-liter that makes 241 horsepower. The car also features two-wheel-drive or all-wheel drive and a 6-speed automatic transmission. By: autoevolution
