We’ve heard a little rumor suggesting Toyota had the most popular car ad during this year’s Super Bowl. There’s a good chance that people will grow curious about the tuning potential of a 2016 Prius after seeing it turned into a police car. Well, gentlemen, what do you think about this one?
Some of you might recognize the Kuhl Racing Toyota Prius from one of our earlier stories. The project was finished just in time for the Tokyo Auto Salon, and we were taken aback by what they did to it.
The view from the rear is spectacular, as an undeserving Prius has been fitted with a quad exhaust system finished off using Heat Blue pipes. This is accompanied by a black leather wrap for the trunk, hood and roof.
Why does a hybrid need a fixed rear wing? We don’t know, but it looks fast while standing still.
The Prius boasts a hellaflush stance befitting a Japanse custom car. This draws even more attention to the complete body kit, which starts off with a new front bumper. A large blade protrudes out, like a blade that’s ready to cut the grass on the corners of a race track. The side skirts and rear diffuser give you the same impression.
You might be tempted to think this Japanese tuner is crazy. But in Japan, even Toyota offers body kits for the Prius through its dealership network. There’s also a professional racing car that’s making its debut in the GT300 class this year. And if you think Kuhl Racing are just showing off, just check out their Nissan GT-R and Mazda MX-5, which are even more insane. By: autoevolution
