Why Buy A Supercar When You Can Destroy The Track With The Cayman GT4 Clubsport?

The hardcore Cayman breaks cover at LA.

As soon as the Porsche Cayman GT4 came out, every enthusiast dared to imagine what a hardcore version would look like.

Porsche must have been listening because the automaker has just released a track-only version of the GT4—the Cayman GT4 Clubsport. We knew this was coming, but now we get to see it in the metal. The Clubsport made its debut at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show.

It features the same engine as the Carrera S, a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six making 385 horsepower.

Unlike the road-going version, the Clubsport is only offered with Porsche’s PDK dual-clutch transmission.

The front axle and rear strut suspension kit come from the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car. There are also 15-inch steel disc brakes to help keep the car (and driver) in check on the track. Just like any other track car, the Clubsport’s interior has been striped and is devoid of any creature comforts.

We got to peek inside and this thing is seriously raw. Porsche plans to homologate the Clubsport to race in a number of series and club races. Needless to say, the vehicle won’t be cheap. It costs roughly $165,000, cheaper than most supercars but it’s not road-legal so…yeah, there’s that. Live photos by Alden Tatum. By: Carbuzz
